HUMAN ANATOMY I – Gross Human Structural Biology
The study of the body structure of the living person. The prime, and if possible, the only material that should be used in this study is the living human body and living specimen. Practical considerations, however, force the use of cadavers and other non-living specimens. Whatever studied in cadavers and non-living specimens is transferred to and visualized in the body of the student. Also included is the practical importance of surgical landmarks as well as the clinical significance and relevance of the structures studied.
The first semester deals with the study of the microscope structure and developmental anatomy of cells, tissues and organs. Electron microscopic photographs and embryo sections are also demonstrated. The topics include: Fundamentals of cell and microscopy, fundamental of development from gametogenesis to birth, organization of tissues into organ systems: integumentary, skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, immune, respiratory and digestive.

The second semester continues with microscopic anatomy and then delves into Developemtals Anatomy and Functional Neuroanatomy. The topics include: excretory, endocrine, and reproductive systems and neuroanatomy.
