School of Nursing

THE SCHOOL

To meet local and global requirements of nursing graduates committed to clinical and academic excellence, the Board of Trustees of the FEU – Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation in October 2002, passed a resolution to establish the School of Nursing that would meet the standards of the profession and educational accreditation. On May 5, 2003, the permit to operate was granted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for a four – year course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Full government recognition was granted on May 2, 2007. Dr. Tita Yap-Cruz was appointed as Director of the School of Nursing on May 16, 2003.

The Far Eastern University – Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation – School of Nursing is committed to maintain the highest academic and clinical standards in nursing education, service and research.

MISSION

To achieve education that is innovative and attuned to modern trends relevant to the goals of the country and the needs of the community; providing an environment that allows its students to grow intellectually; and promoting social consciousness and value formation.

OBJECTIVES

    1. Equip students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for the practice of nursing.

    2. Produce primary health care nurses to meet the needs of both rural and urban populations.

    3. Expose the students to services of an interdisciplinary nature within the context of total health care.

    4. Develop research interest utilizing the nursing process as the basic framework.
