THE SCHOOL

In line with the vision-mission of the Institute of Medicine in addressing the need for a more comprehensive and relevant health care system, the Board of Trustees of the Far Eastern University – Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation approved a resolution on March 21, 1994 that the Dean of the Institute of Medicine apply with the Commission on Higher Education for the approval of a course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Full Government Recognition (GR No. 123. Series of 1999) was issued on June 3, 1999. Dr. Editha C. Dizon was appointed Head of the School of Physical Therapy in June 1995.

From 1994-2008, the first two years of the course were offered in the Far Eastern University, Manila. The next two years were spent in the School of Physical Therapy, FEU-NRMF where major physical therapy subjects and basic medical sciences are taught. The last year involves the internship program which exposes the students to clinical cases and PT application in different accredited government and private institutions.  In 2006, the School of Physical Therapy started to accept first year applicants in FEU-NRMF under the Associate in Health Science Education Program.

The Far Eastern University – Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation School of Physical Therapy, in the forefront of the pursuit of excellence in Physical Therapy Education, quality physical therapy services, and relevant research.

MISSION

The School of Physical Therapy is committed to the development of competent, knowledgeable, skillful, compassionate and caring physical therapists instilled with the highest moral and ethical values who will be of service to the society:

    1. clinicians capable of providing excellent and quality patient care,

    2. researchers motivated to engage in professional advancement, and

    3. educators dedicated to train future physical therapists to attain their full potentials.

OBJECTIVES

The School of Physical Therapy aims to develop among its students:

    1. critical thinking, problem-solving and clinical decision- making skills,

    2. capability to integrate theoretical knowledge into clinical practice,

    3. ability to function well independently and as a member of the rehabilitation team,

    4. desire for life-long learning and professional growth through continuing education and research, and

    5. capacity to readily adapt to the changing needs of the health profession and the society.
